# Proxmox monitoring dashboard for every host and guest

NexoVirt samples every guest every 5 seconds and every node every 30 seconds into its own database, then draws the dashboard and live charts from it. Pages open at once because the browser never queries Proxmox directly.

## What it does

Live CPU, RAM, disk and network for guests and nodes, plus a panel-wide dashboard.

- ### Panel-wide dashboard

Counts for guests, hosts and nodes, an all-nodes table with CPU, RAM, disk and network sparklines, and the latest activity and alerts.
- ### Live per-guest charts

CPU, RAM and disk gauges plus history on every guest page, refreshed every few seconds.
- ### Real RAM usage

For running VMs, memory comes from the guest agent (used minus cache), not Proxmox's figure that counts the page cache.
- ### Your cadence and retention

Sampling intervals and retention are settings. Defaults: 24 hours for guests, 180 days for nodes.

## Why not just use the Proxmox web UI?

Proxmox VE runs the virtualization. NexoVirt adds the layer around it. Metrics & dashboards, task by task:

| Task | Proxmox web UI | NexoVirt |
|---|---|---|
| Overview of all nodes | Summary per cluster | One table with sparklines across all hosts |
| VM memory usage | Includes page cache, often near 100% | Real usage from the guest agent |
| Longer history | RRD graphs, or an external metric server | Built in, retention set in the panel |

## How to use it

Up and running in 3 steps, all in the panel.

1. The metrics collector runs next to the panel and fills the store.
2. Open the dashboard for the overview, or a guest or node page for live detail.
3. Tune intervals and retention in Settings, Metrics.

## Metrics & dashboards FAQ

Do I need InfluxDB or Grafana for Proxmox monitoring with NexoVirt? No. The collector writes to the panel's own database and the charts are part of the panel. You can still run an external metric server in Proxmox alongside it.
