Restore guests of a failed Proxmox node from backups
When a Proxmox node goes down, NexoVirt shows which of its guests have a recent Proxmox Backup Server backup and restores them on another node with a few clicks. It is never automatic: you decide, the panel checks every guest first and keeps the old copies from starting when the node comes back.
What it does
Bring a failed node's guests back from their latest PBS backups.
-
Knows when a node is down
A node counts as down only when both its agent and its inventory are silent. You get a banner and an alert.
-
Backup protection at a glance
Each guest shows its newest backup and whether it is protected, stale or has none.
-
Checked before it runs
Target node, VMID, storage and network are checked per guest before the restore starts.
-
IPs and port forwards
Keep the IP or take a new one on the target, and port forwards move along.
-
No double guests
When the failed node returns, its old copies are stopped and you are asked to clean them up.
-
Never automatic
Failover starts only when you click it, so a short network blip never restores anything.
How to use it
Up and running in 4 steps, all in the panel.
-
Attach the same Proxmox Backup Server to your nodes and back the guests up.
-
When a node is down, open Failover from the banner.
-
Pick the target, review the checks, fail over the selected guests.
-
When the node returns, delete the old copies.

Assisted failover FAQ
Does failover start by itself?
No. NexoVirt detects a down node and shows what can be restored, but nothing happens until you start it.
What do I need?
Backups of the guests on a Proxmox Backup Server that the target node can reach too.
