Fraud protection for hosting sign-ups: FraudRecord and IP checks

Fraud protection checks new sign-ups before they can order. At sign-up NexoVirt asks FraudRecord about the customer and either holds a flagged account for your approval or blocks it. The IP check shows the country, network and VPN or hosting addresses behind every sign-up, sign-in and order.

Fraud protection in the NexoVirt panel

What it does

A FraudRecord check at sign-up and an IP check for every customer.

  • FraudRecord at sign-up

Email, name, phone and IP are hashed in the panel. Only the hashes leave it, through NexoVirt with your licence key or with your own FraudRecord key.

  • Hold or block

A flagged sign-up waits for your approval, or is refused with a neutral message. With your own key you set the score and reliability that count as a hit.

  • Never in the way

When FraudRecord does not answer, the sign-up goes on. Every check is kept with its result on the customer page.

  • Rules per customer group

Skip the check for one group, always check another, or hold every sign-up of a group for review.

  • IP check

Country, region, city and network of each address from a local database, with VPN and hosting addresses marked and a warning when they do not match the billing country.

  • Sign-in and order addresses

The customer page lists the sign-up address, every sign-in address and the addresses orders came from. An optional proxycheck.io key adds a second opinion.

How to use it

Up and running in 3 steps, all in the panel.

  1. Open Customer portal, Customer sign-up and turn on Fraud protection.

  2. Choose hold for approval or block, and add your own FraudRecord key if you have one.

  3. Use "Test fraud check", then review flagged customers on their IP check tab.

Fraud protection FAQ

Is customer data sent to FraudRecord?

Only hashes. The panel hashes email, name, phone and IP the way FraudRecord expects before the check, so no plain customer data leaves it.

What happens when FraudRecord is down?

The sign-up goes on as if the check found nothing, and the check is recorded as unavailable.

Where does the IP location come from?

From the free DB-IP Lite database, kept on your own server and updated every month. No address is sent anywhere for it, unless you add a proxycheck.io key.
