NexoVirt: which use needs which edition (plain-English summary)
This is a friendly summary, not the license itself. The binding terms are the Community Edition License and the Enterprise Subscription Agreement. If they ever disagree with this summary, the license text wins.
Community Edition is free for managing your own infrastructure
Use NexoVirt Community Edition for free to run and manage virtual machines and containers on Proxmox VE that you or your organization operate for your own use. That includes:
- Homelab and personal servers
- A company managing its own internal VMs and containers
- Learning, evaluation, research, and testing
Community Edition is capped at 2 Proxmox nodes (unlimited VMs), and it stays free forever for this kind of use.
Running a hosting business needs an Enterprise subscription
The moment you use NexoVirt to serve other people, you need a paid Enterprise subscription. That includes:
- Selling or renting VPS / virtual servers to customers
- Offering the customer portal, console, or API to third parties
- Reselling NexoVirt, or offering it (or access to it) as a service
- Any use for the commercial benefit of a hosting or virtualization business
If you make money by giving other people servers through NexoVirt, that is Enterprise use.
The simple test
Ask: "Who is this server for?"
- For me / my own organization -> Community Edition, free.
- For a customer / someone I sell or provide it to -> Enterprise subscription.
A few ground rules (both editions)
- Do not bypass or tamper with the license, edition, node-limit, or license-key system.
- Do not remove NexoVirt branding or "Powered by" notices, unless your Enterprise tier gives you the white-label feature.
- If a subscription lapses, NexoVirt degrades back to Community Edition. It never disables your panel or your running infrastructure.
